Meet Christina Sizemore
Christina Sizemore, Multimedia Artist
Christina Sizemore is a Texas based, multimedia artist who works in photography, acrylic paint, wood and textiles. By trade, she is also a graphic designer and marketing consultant. Christina grew up in an artist’s home, finding her passion at an early age. She pursued fine art through high school and college with her medium of choice changing depending on what is happening in her life. Christina says, “Art is just creativity and being creative is something I do every day in every walk of life. Painting an acrylic painting, building a piece of furniture for my house, coming up with a creative marketing campaign for a client, finding a fun way to teach my daughter about early American history...all of it is art in its own right.”
Her mother, an accomplished artist in her own right, is her greatest inspiration, followed by her husband and daughter. They all regularly influence her artist expression. Though it took a tragedy to teach her how art truly heals. She says, “My venture into silversmithing and wood turning was 100% an art therapy technique. After losing our house, dog and most of our belongings to a fire, I needed to create something beautiful with fire and destruction. Wood turning is incredibly aggressive and destructive, but it creates something beautiful. With silversmithing I needed to use heat and fire to create something beautiful. Learning these trades and creating with them helped so much in the healing process.”
